Notes concerning the "powerstealing" thermostats
Let me suggest
that if you have or can run a common wire to the thermostat, it may save you a headache or two.
I recommend the "hardwired" T8601Dxxxx rather than the "powerstealing" T8600Dxxxx. The T8601Dxxxx has never shown
any incompatibility with certain other modern electronically controlled components in the
systems as is occasionally the case with the "powerstealing" model (the T8600Dxxxx).
It is rather rare, but it does happen. I have had some complaints about the
display sporadically going blank. It turned out to be problems in the heating systems and
a limit safety was tripping and killing the power to all the system (thermostat included).
But these are annoyances to the owner and occupants as they are not aware of the
cause and I get calls wanting refunds. Therefore, I usually explain this to potential purchasers
of the "powerstealing" models.
