HONEYWELL UNVEILS VISIONPRO™ TOUCH SCREEN THERMOSTATS Effortless programming benefits contractors, builders and consumers. MINNEAPOLIS, May 11, 2004 - Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today introduced the VisionPRO touch screen programmable thermostat, an innovation in climate control that reduces customer service calls, is easy to install and easy for customers to use. "For years homeowners have complained about the difficulty of setting their programmable thermostats," said Brent Vick, thermostat product manager. "We listened and watched hundreds of homeowners interact with their thermostats to create VisionPRO. Honeywell has always been the brand that contractors, builders and consumers trust in temperature control performance, and now we’re the easiest to use too." Contractors can expect fewer callbacks because VisionPRO is effortless for consumers to use. For example, VisionPRO guides homeowners through the programming process with a user-friendly touchscreen, reducing the need for an owner’s manual. It also provides precise temperature control, ± 1 °F. VisionPRO’s universal compatibility allows contractors to carry one thermostat that can be configured for use on virtually any application, which reduces the number of thermostats contractors need to carry on their trucks. It also can be coupled with other Honeywell products to feature an outdoor temperature indication or remote temperature sensing. "The temperature control in VisionPRO is extremely precise and the interactive screen makes it easy to use," said David Kahn, president of Kahn Air Conditioning Inc. in Northridge, Calif. " My customers love the sleek design, and I love the fact that I only need one model to fit every home. It’s the perfect product for contractors who want to reduce callbacks and increase profits." VisionPRO features a 10 sq. in. large, clear touchscreen display with an easy-to-read current temperature, set temperature and current time. Backlighting makes the display even more readable in any lighting condition. Its real-time clock keeps time during a power failure and will automatically update for daylight savings. VisionPRO can be detached from the wall during programming for increased ease of use, and features various hold options that allow users to modify their programmed climate schedule as needed. Schedule programming is completely flexible and configurable with the VisionPRO 8000. Homeowners can set the thermostat from non-programmable up to a separate program for each day or any combination of days... weekends versus weekday, for example.
